"The longer I live, the more deeply I learn that love — whether we call it friendship or family or romance - is the work of mirroring and magnifying each other’s light. Gentle work. Steadfast work. Life-saving work in those moments when life and shame and sorrow occlude our own light from our view, but there is still a clear-eyed loving person to beam it back. In our best moments, we are that person for another.” James Baldwin
Couples
“If equal affection cannot be, let the more loving one be me” W.H. Auden
Whether you are in a new relationship or planning to marry or in a long term relationship that has gone out of balance, I can help you to understand and get some clarity in your connection.
Many couples go out of balance when there is a crack in their foundation. Like a shallow rooted tree in a storm, things can get wobbly pretty quickly.
We will begin with building your relationship foundation; the bedrock from which all that passes between you rests upon.
For each couple the components of your foundation will be unique to you depending on your backgrounds and values.
Here are a few that are universal:
- Agreements: for many, agreements are more assumptions rather than something explored and made explicit.
- Safety: a cornerstone to any healthy partnership
- Listening: without judgment is your superpower
- Empathy: another superpower that can be cultivated
- Follow the path: from rupture to repair
- Developing Co-Regulation: being a calm presence when your partner is emotionally out of balance.
Parents
Parenting is one of life’s most important-and most challenging roles
Every parent wants the best for their child, but parenting does not come with a manual.
Whether you are navigating upsets, anxiety, school struggles, or diagnosis-its understandable to be overwhelmed at times.
You do not have to figure it out alone.
As a psychotherapist that has worked with many parents over the years I can help with practical tools and a deeper understanding in a supportive and nonjudgemental space.
Together we will explore what is underneath challenging behaviors and help to strengthen your relationship to your child
Parents often seek support for:
- Emotional outbursts and difficult behaviors
- ADHD
- Parenting after separation and divorce
- Blended families
- Sibling conflict
- Communication struggles
- Building healthy boundaries
Inspired by the work of Dr Dan Siegel
My approach to supporting parents is informed by the work of Dr. Dan Siegel, a psychiatrist and pioneer in the field of interpersonal neurobiology. His research explores how relationships, the brain, and the mind work together to shape emotional health and resilience.
Dr. Siegel teaches that a child's behavior is a form of communication. Rather than asking, “Whats wrong with my child?” we learn to ask, “What is my child trying to tell me?”
Challenging behaviors often reflect unmet emotional needs, overwhelming feelings, or a nervous system that has gone out of balance.
In our work together, I help parents to better understand their childs developing brain, recognize the emotions behind the behaviors, and develop and strengthen connection while supporting healthy boundaries.
Siblings
Sibling relationships are often the longest relationships we have in our lives. They can be a source of deep connection, support, and shared history. But they can also carry old hurts, misunderstandings, rivalry, or patterns that have developed over many years.
I help siblings explore these dynamics in a safe, respectful, and nonjudgemental space allowing each of you to be heard. Whether you are navigating conflict, caring for aging parents or working to rebuild after years of distance, our time together can provide the chance to better understand one another and heal old hurts from the past.
Common reasons siblings come to see me
- Ongoing conflict and communication issues
- Estrangement
- Grief and loss
- Childhood experiences that continue to affect the relationship
- Repairing trust after a betrayal
In our work together we will begin with where you are together currently and go from there. Identifying old hurts and resentments as well as, places of love and connection will be good places to start. Essential will be developing good listening skills and empathy to create a good container for our work.
I welcome adult siblings at any stage of their relationship and will provide support where difficult conversations can become opportunities for growth and connection.
